Camping | It has become increasingly popular to spend the vacation along the shores of Norway’s biggest lake, Lake Mjøsa. The landscape in this area can be described as open and friendly, with lots of possibilitites for recreational activities.
Due to a stable climate, the area is very popular for summer holidays, but it is also excellent during the winter time. Sveastranda Camping is open all year long.
The campsite is beautifully situated by Lake Mjøsa, only 12 km north of the town of Gjøvik and 3 km south of Mjøsbrua along road no. 4 between the lake towns: Gjøvik, Lillehammer and Hamar. There are numerous possibilities for excursions, for instance to Hunderfossen Amusement Park, Totenbadet (indoor swimming pools, jacuzzis, etc.) the Olympic arenas, Biri Trotting Track, Skibladner (old paddle steamer), CC Mart’n (the largest shopping centre between Trondheim and Oslo).
You find the following facilities at Sveastranda: 300 spots for tents/caravans, 33 cabins for rent (11 cabins with shower and toilet), 2 apartments, 2 modern sanitary buildings, service facilities with a kiosk/grocery store and TV room . 500 meter seashore specially suited for children. Good fishing facilities in Mjøsa and in Stokkelva. Excellent hiking facilities. Rental of bikes, pedal cars, paddling boats, canoe, motor boat, rowing boat and life jackets. Free wireless internet connection on major parts of the campsite.
